10 am: on my way to the ASL Lab to do my homework for Friday I am walking across Roosevelt because the white walk man said I could. I then hear the CTA traffic lady yelling watch for cars. I look over and see a car coming at me because the stupid lady is waving him through his left turn. EXCUSE ME!!! It is my turn to walk and she waits until I a dead in his path to wave him on?? I almost lost my life this morning to an old Chinese man in a mid 90s Corolla... Nice.
11am: I walk into the ASL Lab and since there is a no talking rule in the department the girl starts signing to me and fingerspelling at lightning fast speeds and I just give her a nice confused look and point to my lab packet. She gives me the DVD to do my work and asks for my ID which once again I do not understand due to the crazy speeds of her fingerspelling so she whispers to me, "Do you need a tutor?" NO I DO NOT NEED A FLIPPING TUTOR! I have had this class twice now so I'm sorry I am not quite up to your speed. I go to the computer, pop in the DVD, and start my work. There is one person on the screen fingerspelling three words and then comes another person to do another three words. They are words like: lie, die, pie, know, snow, now. I am doing good for the first few people and then I get to a few people that I have to keep rewinding to catch what they are spelling. The next section is two people spelling double letter words (aardvark, abbot) and while the man is fingerspelling at a nice moderate speed the woman is going WAY beyond lightning fast and is kind of blurring the letters together. I understood her first two words but the next 20 or so I completely gave up on. At least I did half of that page right??
1230pm: Lunch at Panera. They no longer carry fufuberry jones soda. My world just completely ended in a matter of seconds...
1:30pm: The shot to the head... I walk over to meet my ride to Hyde Park and nobody answers the door or the phone. Ok ok not a big deal I will just take a cab to Lisa will give me the $15 for it. I get a cab and the guy asks where I'm going and I say 57th and Woodlawn please. He says ok and I close the door and we're off. He gets on Lakeshore Drive and we are going alright, only 5miles over the speed limit and cars are passing us left and right. I'm getting a little annoyed but whatever it's cool. He exits at 57th street and even though the speed limit drops to like 35 he continues at 50. Does this make any sense?? He is going so fast that he drives right by the turn to 56th (57th is one way for one block so you have to go to 56th to get past it) and doesn't even see 57th. Instead of turning down 59th he is still going so fast that he passes right by it. I was like um sir and he's just like oh sorry sorry and continues passing streets left and right. We finally get to the end of the road where it meets 65th. Almost 10 blocks south of my destination. Nice... So he turns up Stony Island to head back North and rather than turning on 59th to get up to 57th he goes back past 57th to 53rd and then turns. We finally get to my destination and my cab fare is like $23. I tell him, "I can't pay you all that. You went to wrong way multiple times." He mumbled something and I assume he's mumbling at traffic because we are at a red light. A minute later (meter still running wtf?!) he says in a tone meaning he's having to repeat himself (I guess the mumbling was to me), "Give me what you got then!" I say, "I got 15 bucks for ya, thats what It usually costs." I hop on out of the cab and he speeds away. Sucks to be him. If he didn't know how to get me to where I was going he shouldn't have let me in his cab.
2pm: All is good now. I pick up the kids, we hang out at the school and have a snack for awhile, and then we head over and go ice skating. After ice skating a couple weeks ago both kids have improved. I guess they just needed to get used to it again. david went from holding on to a large cone for dear life to speeding around with Ellie and getting right back up after falling. It was nice that he did so much better because that meant I didn't have to watch him so much and I was free to skate around. I did quite nicely on my new skates that I got for Christmas. I even tried going backwards which happened for a few seconds. I've been roller skating my whole life and I can't even go backwards so even the few feet on the ice made my day much better! We skated until it was time for me to leave at 6. Nice easy day with the kids.
7pm: I took Pig to the vet to get his nail trimmed and to have a bath. First, since he is a new patient he had to be examined (add $50 to my bill...) then the doctor tells me that they don't usually bathe guinea pigs because using shampoo on them, even special guinea pig shampoo, can dry out their skin and make them susceptible to some sort of mites. So bummer no bath for pig. He recommends chinchilla dust from petsmart and a flea comb to comb out the dandruff and hair that he is shedding. They clip his nails and we are good to go. my bill totaled $70. $20 to get his nails trimmed?!! NUTS!!!! I was pretty bummed that he couldn't get a bath because had I know that I would have searched for other places to do his nails so I wouldn't have to pay for an exam.
8pm: Pig and I return home and follow a crowd of people through the doors to the elevator at my apartment building. I get upstairs and to my door and set pig on the floor and dig in my bag looking for my keys. Funny, they aren't there. NICE! The one time I am not absolutely anal about checking for my keys before leaving... I don't have them. The other nice things about this is that my phone was dead so it is in the apartment charging. I was expecting a call from a classmate about getting together at 830 and a call from a lady about babysitting on the weekends. Pig and I set up shop in the hallway and after quite some time I notice that I am so hungry that my stomach is aching and I am feeling sharp pains. I went downstairs and asked the door lady how much it costs to get my apartment unlocked... $50!!! So then I ask for the time, it's 9 already! I say screw that I've already been waiting for over an hour, I can wait a bit longer and hope Megan or Danielle get home soon. 5 minutes later Megan walks through the door and I am saved. I got in, ate, finished up some homework, and went to bed...
Today
1020am: Theory class is over and Dave is handing back our quizzes from Tuesday. This quiz from last week... I failed it due to really dumb mistakes. I also failed last weeks homework because he is so damn nitpicky and my theory 2 teacher gave up the points for just trying haha... I get my quiz back... 100%!!!! Yesss... It is the beginning of a good day... KARMA
